From Heartbreak to Hope: A New Chapter with Mushu’s Munchies
The silence in our home, once filled with the joyful pitter-patter and happy barks of Eden, an 11 monyh old Husky puppy, is still a heavy presence. 2024 brought with it an unimaginable heartbreak: losing our beloved Eden to sudden, ongoing, and severe seizures. We believe it was a tragic consequence of irresponsible breeding, a thought that still sends a pang through my chest. Eden deserved a long, healthy life, and the fact that her early departure may have been preventable is a burden we carry.
The grief was immense, but as any dog lover knows, a house without a dog is just a house. In mid-January of 2025, a tiny, seven-week-old Shih Tzu bundle of fluff named Mushu entered our lives. He couldn’t replace Eden, not in a million years, but he brought a much-needed spark back into our days. His playful antics, his goofy puppy smiles, and his innocent curiosity started to mend the broken pieces of our hearts.
But with Mushu came a fierce determination. I vowed that I would do everything in my power to ensure he lived the healthiest, happiest life possible. Eden’s struggle awakened me to the critical importance of a dog’s well-being, from their genetics to their daily diet. I started researching tirelessly, delving into canine nutrition, holistic health, and the impact of what goes into our dogs’ bowls.
That’s where Mushu’s Munchies was born. It’s more than just a treat and dog bakery; it’s a mission, a promise to Mushu, and a tribute to Eden. This space will be dedicated to sharing my journey in providing Mushu with the best possible health through homemade, nutritious food and informed choices.
We’ll explore recipes packed with wholesome ingredients, discuss the benefits of a balanced diet, and even debunk some common myths about commercial dog food. My goal is to empower other dog parents to take an active role in their furry friends’ health, to ask questions, and to make informed decisions that can lead to longer, happier lives.

While we can’t change the past, we can certainly influence the future for our current and future companions.
